NPHS Focus: College Ready and CTE Courses

One of the greatest achievements at North Park is the Career/College pathways and opportunities that the school has created for students.  This has been accomplished by adding and improving our CTE pathways and providing more opportunities to prepare students for college.  NPHS is close to finishing the development of the current 3 CTE pathways for students; child care, automotive, and public service.  There are approximately 100 students enrolled and in the process of completing the CTE pathways.

NPHS has made great strides in preparing students for college.  NPHS has piloted an auto program in which students are concurrently enrolled at NPHS and Rio Hondo College.  Students enrolled in the program will receive credits for both high school and college simultaneously There have been 7 NPHS students that completed all the requirements to receive college credits.

NPHS has also formed an MOU with Rio Hondo to offer two college level courses here at the school site open to the community.  The two courses are Administration of Justice and Psychology The Administration of Justice served 15 students (6 BPUSD students) and the Psychology served 20 students (7 BPUSD students).

NPHS has finally utilized the College Readiness Grant to provide students with a new course that prepares students to be successful.   Approximately 40 students were enrolled in the sections.

In the next upcoming school school year, NPHS will continue to explore and develop more opportunities for students to be prepared for their futures.
