On Monday November 22nd, North Park students and staff, with the help of Hillsides, united together to march against drugs. The march was voluntary resulting in a high turnout of students and staff. Participants walked around the perimeter of North Park and Geddes carrying red balloons symbolizing those that have lost a life due to drugs. The march culminated in the quad with a touching speech from Principal Ippolito, a moment of silence, and a release of the balloons.
The march was just one of many events organized by North Park staff. Administration, counseling, ASB, and student leadership collaborated to provide a variety of events. Guest speakers were invited to speak to students throughout the week as well as fun activities organized by the NPHS ASB, such as crazy sock day to "sock it to drugs." Overall, Red Ribbon Week was a success and a testament to the positive school culture that exists at NPHS.
